Harpies
AKA: Harpyiai
Origin: Greece
History:
Harpies are spirits of sudden gusts of wind. Known throughout Ancient Greece as winged women who served as the servants of Zeus. Originally there were told to be two sisters but then the stories added one more, because apparently two winged women aren’t enough. The first two were named Aello and Celaeno, the 3rd one is Ocypete. Cruel and vicious, the Greeks were well aware of the Harpies’ tendency to steal humans and objects from the Mortal world at the snap of Zeus’ fingers. Any strange disappearance were directly linked to the Harpies. Best known as the ones who were left on an island with King Phineus who was given a buffet to eat but was doomed to have the Harpies take it away. Until the Argonauts saved him from death by starvation. At first everyone thought that the Harpies were total babes, but as time went on they were rewritten as being ugly. Mainly because they wanted to avoid the confusion between them and the sirens.
What if I see one?
That’s it for you. You’re going to be swept up in a strong wind with cackling bird ladies who may or may not be gorgeous, and be on a Missing Person’s poster.
You’re going be

Gone with the wind.
Ok bad joke but I just had to, sue me.
